Lady Bird Johnson's name will forever be linked with wildflowers. The former first lady, who died Wednesday at her home in Westlake Hills near Austin, Texas, shared her love of nature with Texas and the nation. She was 94.
And though nationally, she was best known as the wife of Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th president, Mrs. Johnson was very much a figure in her own right. She mixed Southern graciousness with a quiet, cast-iron fortitude that not only won admirers but allowed her to steer a large business enterprise and help forge a national environmental movement.

I remember hearing about her death. It's sad. I bet Mary and William were sad about it, too. They photographed her and her family a few times.
I didn't know that. I always wished that I would have been able to meet her...not her husband (mind you) but her. She was a legacy on her own.
